I am Brittany

Kept started with the things I couldn’t throw away.

Notes from my dad. Little pieces of my kids. Handwriting on scraps of paper that probably looked ordinary to everyone else, but didn’t feel ordinary to me.

After I lost my dad, the things he had written suddenly felt different — small pieces of someone I loved that I could still hold in my hands. And at the same time, my kids were leaving pieces of themselves everywhere too. Backward letters. Tiny drawings. First “I love yous.” The kind of things that feel so everyday while you’re living them, and then somehow become priceless.

I’m a mom of two, a longtime marketer, and someone who has always been sentimental about the small things. I kept thinking about how many of these pieces we tuck into drawers, boxes, wallets, cookbooks, closets. Not because they’re valuable to anyone else. Because they’re valuable to us.

There is something about handwriting that carries more than words. It carries the person. Their rhythm. Their quirks. Their presence.

That’s what Kept is for — a way to take something small and deeply personal and give it a place to live outside the drawer.

Not because everything needs to become a keepsake. But because some things really are worth keeping.

Things worth keeping, kept.
